Hello from Tuscany

Posted by Steve on June 26, 2007 in Announcements

Hey folks,
After doing things the old-fashioned way for a while, we are up and running with a very sharp website designed by Jon which will help you get a better understanding of who we are and what we do. The summer is settling in here in Tuscany, with the landscape making its final shift into scorched tones of amber and straw. Local villages are abuzz with various festivals and Siena itself is bracing for the engrossing Palio horserace in a week’s time. The following week we have a full house of 15 students arriving to engage in painting and stone sculpture courses. We literally filled our lodging and transportation to capacity this time around and will have to either add sections next year or create a waiting list. Check out the offerings for ’07-’08 and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions.

Saluti,
Steve

Phone information will be emailed to participants after enrollment. In 2007, bus and train fares from Rome to Raplolano averaged 30 euro, one-way. Read more >

Tips on Airfare to Italy

Posted by Steve on June 7, 2007 in Travel

Students should start looking for airfare as soon as possible. Summer travel to Italy is very popular, and securing a flight early usually means saving hundreds of dollars. In 2007, participants are paying between $650 and $1,200 between New York and Rome, depending in large part on when the ticket was purchased.

Rome is likely the most convenient airport to fly into, but other options are Milan, Bologna, Pisa and Florence, all of which involve 3-4 hours of travel time to reach our program’s locations in Rapolano and Carrara. (See this post for suggestions on getting to Rapolano from Rome.) Read more >
